VVAC Financial Sustainability Plan
Thanks to your generous support and continuous efforts, we now have a beautiful new state-of-the-art facility in Camp Verde. With renovations and move-in complete comes the reality of day-to-day operating expenses that are required to maintain and propel the Verde Valley Archaeology Center and Museum’s (VVAC) mission. Financial sustainability is the foundation for everything our museum aspires to be whilst ensuring the integrity of vital conservation, preservation and education.
We need your help! Even during the best of times, museums like VVAC operate on razor thin margins-often surviving on month-to-month finances. The continued fallout from the pandemic, inflation and this Summer’s stifling heat have only complicated our existing challenges. To assure continued financial stability, VVAC’s Board of Directors recently adopted an updated and thoughtful 5-Year Strategic Plan to secure our future. The keys to this plan: Our Mission, Our Vision and Our Value are shown in the enclosed Financial Sustainability Plan.

The Mayan deliberately burying their own carvings in mud to preserve them from weathering is hardly the norm, is it? Admittedly Gobekli Tepe was said to have been buried, but nobody is claiming that there's a connection in this 'practice' of back filling, either. I personally find the idea that we're not going to see anything original in this site, with every thing on show being a mock-up, unbelievable. A replica means we can no longer distinguish its authenticity from a modern fake! It's a ridiculous arrangement where the archeologists simply meet the Berlize tourist boards expectations.

48:00 this relies on assumptions based on modern traditions not evidence. Whether they be yours or the natives, there's no way you could prove a war party "only" consisted of a few teenaged boys armed with bows... It certainly wasn't the type of force they'd use to attack the conquistadors or the colonists in later years. Do you seriously think they'd send such an ineffective force to raid a settlement of 150 people? We call this a strawman argument and it is an unnecessary one. There are no signs of major conflict in the southwest prior to Spanish contact, which is all one needs to cite to thoroughly refute any warfare hypothesis. Wars leave behind undeniable concentrations of evidence that cannot hide behind any argument.

Sure was a lot of destruction in the 1800's, especially the late 1800's, to these, possibly, thousands of years old civilizations. Coincides with the Calvery and the price put on the scalps of Native American People, from 25 cents, to $5! The Calvery and vigilantes, were ordered to "Exterminate" the Nature American People. Even women and children. $5! Can you imagine! That was a lot of money back then. So much history has been lost. We really need to preserve these sites. There's still so much to learn. Thank You for the videos. Very interesting.

Ancient Native Americans are thought to have had a spiritual connection with iron oxide or “red ochre” as they named it. It’s thought that it was viewed as a sacred substance. It has been regularly found in burials and ritual areas all across the Americas. Iron oxide was also one of the first paints and pigments for faces, clothing, pottery and cave paintings. Combine that with the rock coming from the sky and I’m sure they looked at it just like the Coke bottle in the 1980 film “The Gods Must Be Crazy”.

I made the mistake of moving to Camp Verde, AZ! After recovering financially from a divorce, busted my Ar$E to get another home, HATE paying rent! Moved to Camp Verde thinking it would be a GREAT retirement area! Sedona, Flagstaff, Cottonwood, Prescott and Phoenix an hour and a half away! I bought a cheaper mobile in a section of town that was just annexed by the city from the county. Was promised the city was going to pass ordinances making some of these people clean up their trashy property and WAS planning to take the mobile home out and build a nice retirement home! Well, 10 years later and wasting a lot of time and effort, my white trash neighbor still let's his grass grow up to 5 foot, he's a drunk and is a total nightmare of a neighbor, his property should be condemned. It's NOT just him, in about a 3 block area, at least 50% of the properties are run down junk yards! Waist high grass, junk cars, piles of trash all throughout their property! Bunch of good old boys around who care NOTHING about cleaning up their town, increasing property and resale values! The city government is a joke! The politicians care only about one thing, appeasing these losers just to get their vote and care NOTHING about growing and improving their communities! You DO NOT want to invest your hard earned money and retire in this backwards dump of a town! I've met with the Mayor, several city council members and got nothing but excuses and lip service!
